Eligibility and Qualification

• Only Indian nationals need to apply.
• Candidates must possess the exact essential qualification and experience mentioned for the selected post.
• Technician-B and Draughtsman-B posts require SSLC/SSC/Matriculation plus ITI/NTC/NAC in the notified trade from NCVT.
• Technical Assistant posts require First Class Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognized State Board.
• Scientific Assistant posts require First Class B.Sc. with Computer Science or Mathematics as main subject, as applicable.
• Library Assistant-A requires first class graduation plus first class master's degree in Library Science / Library & Information Science or equivalent.
• Cook-A requires SSLC/SSC pass or equivalent and five years experience as cook in a well-established hotel/canteen; experience certificates from individuals are not accepted.
• Students awaiting final result need not apply.
• Professional courses through Open and Distance Learning are not eligible for Technical Assistant posts as per notification.

Selection Process

1. Online applications will be screened based on academic performance and other parameters provided in the application.
2. Only screened-in candidates will be called for Written Test / Computer Based Test.
3. Candidates qualifying as per ISTRAC performance parameters in Written Test/CBT will be shortlisted for Skill Test considering notified vacancies.
4. Skill Test is qualifying in nature and will be conducted for shortlisted candidates.
5. Final selection will be based on marks obtained in Written Test/CBT from among candidates who qualify the Skill Test.
6. Documents uploaded in the online application will be verified during the Skill Test stage.
7. Skill Test will be conducted at Bengaluru only as per the notification.

Exam Pattern

The written test/CBT syllabus is curriculum based. The notification gives separate written test pattern for most technical/scientific/library posts and for Cook-A.

Candidates may have the option to take the written exam/CBT in Hindi or English. ISTRAC reserves the right to conduct the written test online or offline.

Physical Standards / Skill Test / Typing Test

The notification provides physical requirement abbreviations such as Sitting, Standing, Walking, Bending, Lifting, Reading & Writing, Manipulation by Fingers, Seeing, Oral Communication and other functional requirements for posts. There is no separate physical endurance test mentioned. Skill Test is applicable post-wise and is qualifying in nature. For Library Assistant-A, skill test relates to computer literacy. For Cook-A, skill test is conducted for 100 marks and the candidate must secure 60 marks to qualify.

Salary and Benefits

Pay level and approximate gross emoluments are post-wise. Appointed employees will be governed by National Pension System / Unified Pension Scheme as notified.

The notification also mentions benefits such as free transport in lieu of transport allowance, limited housing facility in lieu of HRA, advances, leave travel concession, group insurance, subsidized canteen facility and medical scheme for employees and eligible dependents, subject to rules.
